Botox: Meaning

There are some lines or wrinkles between the eye brows which sometimes wear a very bad shape. Botox is used to make these lines or wrinkles look better. Botox helps in reducing or eliminating those overworked or weakening muscles for which wrinkles occur. Botox is not a permanent treatment. Botox can make a person sick because it comes from a bacteria but it can also be beneficial in some treatments. Botox is usually termed as the trade name for botulinum toxin A.

Botox was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1989. Botulism is a kind of food poisoning occurs often when somebody eats neurotoxin produced by the bacteria called clostridium botulinum. The botulinum toxins block the signals of the muscles because it is a neuromuscular blocking agent which can paralyze the muscle by blocking the release of acetylcholine from motor nerve terminals.
